Teens Join the Pro Series
Teens are once again invited to take pro-series courses at all our locations. A very popular track of pro-series courses for teens in 2007 was Maya I-IV. Teens can take all four Maya courses (Maya I, Maya II, Maya III and Maya IV) and gain DMA Maya Certification. This program will be offered in the summer of 2008 at Stanford University.
3D Character Modeling and Animation with Maya I
- This summer course introduces the basics of 3D character animation, including an in-depth analysis of the modeling and texturing process.
3D Character Modeling and Animation with Maya II
- Building on Maya I, this summer course introduces the element of motion. Students will learn to animate characters — understanding the difference between basic motion and believable physics and weight based animation.
3D Character Modeling and Animation with Maya III
- In this summer course, students tackle the next level of character animation. Customized facial animation control, core issue of arcs, spine and hip placement, weight shift, and other character animation techniques will be explored.
3D Character Modeling and Animation with Maya IV
- In the final Maya summer course, students will put all of the technical skills gained in the first three levels to work. At the end of this intense one week course, students will have designed, written, directed, edited, modeled, textured, lit, animated and rendered a short 30-60 second story.
Being Maya certified means that not only has the student touched on all major parts of the Maya software and work flow, but that he or she has completed an animated short film. The knowledge gained in Maya I, II, and III is illustrated through a completed narrative-driven short completed at the end of Maya IV. This short will be a student designed, modeled, textured, lit, animated, and directed project — many of which will be ready for the animation festival circuit. More importantly, these projects will be ready for demo reels to help the student get that 3D job they’re after. The project is a tightly constructed project showing mastery of the art.
